Touch-A-Life Foundation inks pact with OU to nurture social entrepreneurship among youth.
January 05, 2023 — Hyderabad, INDIA. — Touch-A-Life Foundation, will set up an OU-TAL Transformers Social Entrepreneurship and Innovation Centre at the Centre for Research and Development on the Osmania University campus to nurture social entrepreneurship, social advocacy, and social innovation among youth.
An agreement to this effect was signed between Touch-A-Life Foundation, headquartered in Santa Clara, California, USA, and Osmania Foundation on January 03, 2023. The OU-TAL Transformers Social Entrepreneurship and Innovation Centre will focus on nurturing youth through social business ideas, awareness campaigns on digital media, and research and development (R&D) of the latest digital technology solutions.
All these were focused on the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations to solve problems for underserved communities. The Touch-A-Life Foundation agreed to provide hybrid online and on-campus learning boot camps for Social Entrepreneurship Certification to OU students.
The certification would cover fundamentals of Social Entrepreneurship, Social Impact and UN Sustainable Development, Business Model Canvas for Social Enterprises, and Business Planning and Fundraising Fundamentals in addition to Marketing Fundamentals and Branding Planning, Finance Fundamentals and Financial Planning, and Careers in Social Entrepreneurship.
It would also focus on Conducting Mini Quarterly Pitch-fests and Annual Global Hackathons for Social Entrepreneurship ideas from students with submission of innovative ideas through the TAL Transformers international judging panel from prominent industries and academia. Cash prizes for the top three social innovation ideas every year, besides guidance and mentorship for fundraising with venture capital and national grants, would also be ensured.
Osmania University agreed to provide facilities to hold a social entrepreneurship pitch-fest, learning programs, and an incubation center for R&D of social innovation ideas by OU students.
The goal of this program is to spark social entrepreneurship in students from OU and guide them to create sustainable solutions to solve social problems and help underprivileged communities.
About Touch-A-Life (TAL) Foundation Transformers program:
It is a global program for youth to nurture social entrepreneurship and social advocacy among youth. The program’s global chair is Veena Gundavelli, co-founder of Touch A Life Foundation and a prominent technology entrepreneur and alumni from OU ECE, now based in Silicon Valley and Hyderabad.
The global advisors are Dr. Manuel Serapio, a Professor from the University of Colorado, Denver; Dr. Tanvi Kothari, Professor from San Jose State University; JA Chowdary, former STPI Hyderabad Director and several prominent global technology entrepreneurs. Touch-A-Life Foundation is co-founded by Sai Gundavelli and Veena Gundavelli, alumni of Osmania University College of Engineering.
